What can happen at the edge of the working week? a lot it seems…
Fossett and Badger, the support act for the night were tight from the get go. The happy angelic drummer sparkled amongst the enticing individuals who performed their hearts out. By the third song of their performance the crowds were up supporting what it seemed some regularly go to see.
Movement of sound within an introduction by a promising four. The Septembers played as musicians from one smooth unit. The crowds drew closer as Anthony Stretch’s (lead singer/songwriter) powerful vocals struck. Meaningful guitar playing meant control was had by dignified Zaria Yusoff on bass, Sean Harvey on electric guitar/effects – which completed an interesting tone and Andrew Price; a stand up drummer, literally at some points.
Anthony mentioned in conversation that he was excited about this show. Getting ready for the rest of his life, he sang. By showing what he and the band are capable of it is obvious that he really is. Their existent energy didn’t stop from flawless pieces. The crowds will always show if they like it and they did.
Everything exists as one – provided more follow through with a dynamic instrumental played out strongly. Andrew made some impacting moments. Asking both Andrew and Sean earlier in the night how the tour had been going, both thought it was going well so far. Sean mentioned it had been good to get the album out there.
Anthony said it for himself, that Wellington’s gig had been the best so far. “Surprising in Whangarei, interesting in Tauranga.” Maybe the Septembers could be classified being similar to a river, picking up certain elements along the way, needed with or without certain ones, yet they made people smile and dance. Good music was made.
